About the role
Vertiv is hiring an Engineer I - Field Service to provide on-site and remote technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for UPS systems, PDUs, STS, AHF, and similar power electronics products. Day-to-day work includes diagnosing hardware, software, and network issues, conducting preventive maintenance, commissioning new installations, documenting service visits, and training customers on proper UPS use. The role is based at Vega Center, India (with a secondary location in Pune, India) and may require travel to customer sites and flexibility for emergency support outside regular business hours.
What you’ll do
- Provide on-site and remote support for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UPS systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues affecting UPS performance.
- Assist in the configuration and commissioning of new UPS installations.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on UPS systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including any repairs or replacements.
- Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Train customers on the proper use and maintenance of UPS systems.
- Prepare detailed reports of service visits, including diagnostic findings, actions taken, and recommendations for future maintenance.
What you’ll bring
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electronics engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in UPS systems support or a related field.
- Strong understanding of electrical and electronics principles and UPS technology.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing UPS systems.
- Familiarity with network protocols and remote monitoring tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel as needed and lift/handle UPS components and equipment.
