About the role

Applied R&D at Nokia focuses on advancing optical networking solutions. As a Principal QA Engineer you will lead the definition and execution of test strategies and automation for Optical DWDM platforms and protocols such as OTN, GbE and DWDM, ensuring system security and reliability. Role is based in India with a hybrid work model.

What you’ll do

Review product feature requirements to estimate effort, equipment needs and timelines
Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans validating system features and deployment scenarios
Validate complex carrier‑grade system features and functionality
Design, maintain and execute automation frameworks and test suites with failure analysis
Collaborate with system engineering on requirement reviews and test plan validations
Work closely with test, design and architecture teams to ensure effective test coverage
Provide detailed reporting on test execution, defect analysis and resolution

What you’ll bring

Bachelor’s degree in CSE, EEE or ECE
12+ years testing and automation experience in optical networking
Proven experience certifying SONET/SDH/OTN/DWDM systems
Hands‑on with protocols such as OTN, FlexO, FlexE, Ethernet, SONET/SDH, RSTP
Scripting skills in Python or similar languages
Experience with test traffic generators like Viavi, Spirent, Ixia
Leadership of test architecture and cross‑product test efforts
Knowledge of L0/L1 platform software design
