About the role
eBay's Global Platform team in Bengaluru, India is hiring a Java Platform Engineer to join the Frameworks team. You will build and evolve the Java platform powering eBay's site-facing REST, GraphQL, and Batch applications, contributing to Raptor.io, eBay's Spring Boot-based Java Developer Platform. Day-to-day work includes developing reusable frameworks, automation, and platform capabilities that simplify how applications are developed, tested, deployed, and operated at scale for eBay developers. This is an on-site, full-time role.
What you’ll do
- Build and evolve the Java and Spring Boot platform, creating reusable capabilities for thousands of internal applications.
- Own features from design and development through automated testing, deployment, production operations, and support.
- Develop and improve CI/CD capabilities using Maven, Jenkins, Tekton, and Git.
- Build and operate platform capabilities using Docker, Kubernetes, and modern cloud-native technologies.
- Simplify complex infrastructure and development workflows through automation, self-service capabilities, and intuitive frameworks.
- Build scalable and reliable platform services while improving observability, vulnerability management, security, and operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI to developer productivity and platform engineering challenges.
- Partner closely with engineering teams in the US and other locations to deliver platform roadmap priorities.
What you’ll bring
- Strong 4-7 years of professional experience developing software with Java.
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Maven, REST APIs, and Git.
- Experience designing reusable frameworks, developer platforms, infrastructure tooling, or shared engineering capabilities.
- Good understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD technologies such as Jenkins and Tekton.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, automation, and cloud-native environments.
- Strong engineering ownership—comfortable building, testing, deploying, operating, and supporting what you develop.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with experience working across teams and geographies.
