Staff Sensor Validation & Characterisation Engineer

About the role

Aeva is advancing perception with its 4D LiDAR technology that fuses velocity and 3D position for autonomous systems. As a Staff Sensor Validation & Characterisation Engineer you will lead and execute end‑to‑end validation of next‑gen LiDAR sensors, designing test plans, running lab and field campaigns, and building automated analysis pipelines. Bangalore office, on-site, with opportunity to establish the validation team from the ground up.

What you’ll do

• Define validation strategy, test plans, metrics and acceptance criteria
• Lead hands‑on sensor characterization in lab environments
• Plan and execute real‑world field validation campaigns
• Develop automated test frameworks and data pipelines
• Analyze test data to identify trends, root causes and drive corrective actions
• Maintain validation interfaces and performance budgets with systems teams
• Support design verification, release readiness reviews and OEM validation requests
• Serve as senior technical liaison across engineering disciplines

What you’ll bring

• 10+ years sensor validation/characterization experience
• Hands‑on LiDAR, radar or camera testing in lab and field
• Automotive LiDAR experience preferred
• Proficiency with Python or MATLAB for data analysis
• Experience with optical/time‑of‑flight test equipment
• Knowledge of ASPICE, ISO 26262 or ISO/SAE 21434 processes

Nice to have
