About the role
UPS seeks an Intermediate Applications Developer in Chennai to design, configure, and secure Workday environments. The role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams to implement Workday security policies, develop integrations using EIB and Workday Studio, and maintain data pipelines in Workday Prism. Responsibilities include creating and optimizing reports, managing data ingestion and transformation, and supporting major Workday releases. Candidates should have hands‑on experience with Workday security configuration, integration development across HCM and other modules, and proficiency with Web Services (SOAP, REST, WSDL). Agile/SAFe delivery experience, strong communication skills, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field are required. The position is full‑time, on‑site in Chennai, India.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate and consult with teams to understand business needs and perform analysis to implement Workday security configuration across all Workday modules.
- Provide hands on configuration of Workday domain and business process security policies.
- Maintain system setup and design, including business processes and reporting; inbound and outbound data interfaces/integrations, and dashboards.
- Develop medium complexity integrations and reports leveraging EIB and Workday studio.
- Support Workday major releases by identifying impact and enhancement opportunities associated with a new release and communicating appropriately as needed.
- Review and recommend optimization efforts based on system usage.
- Participating in system integration testing; analyzing the effectiveness and functionality of new configurations to ensure all requirements are met.
- Leveraging Workday Community/support to resolve complex escalation issues.
- Support systems authentication, security compliance and change management controls.
- Experience with data ingestion, transformation, and security within Prism Environment.
- Familiar with Workday Prism build and able to maintain prism data pipelines.
- Familiar with Workday Extends and building custom interfaces and process.
- Experience in creating and executing Data change Tasks (DCT's). Able to support Prism Orchestration to automate strategic execution of multiple DCTs
- Exposure to Data Modeling in Prism
- Experience in Workday Reporting including Advanced, Composite and Matrix Reports
- Experience with Data Visualizations through Discovery Boards and prism analytics.
- Excellent presentation skills. Able to demonstrate comfort and expertise working with end-users, technical development teams and functional teams.
What you’ll bring
- Hands on development experience in Workday security configuration and integration development.
- Demonstrated integration development experience in Workday HCM and other modules.
- Experience with Web Services and APIs (WSDL, SOAP, REST and WS standards)
- Hands on experience in delivering projects leveraging Agile/SAFe framework.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
