Sr. Project Engineer / Lead Engineer

About the role

ABB’s Energy Industries Division seeks a Sr. Project/Lead Engineer in Bangalore to drive process automation for oil, gas, and power sectors. The role involves leading DCS engineering, serving as design authority, and managing project scope, cost, and risk. This hybrid position requires extensive experience in industrial protocols and cybersecurity within heavy industry environments.

What you’ll do

• Lead end-to-end DCS engineering activities according to customer specifications
• Serve as design authority, reviewing and authorizing engineering deliverables
• Develop engineering proposals, system solutions, schedules, and ensure effective planning
• Drive change management including scope, cost, schedule, and risk assessments
• Participate in project reviews, presenting technical scope and progress to stakeholders
• Support project risk and opportunity management; contribute to claims documentation
• Mentor and guide project engineering teams, providing technical support

What you’ll bring

• BE/B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or related field
• 9–14 years’ experience in Process Automation within Oil & Gas, Refineries, Petrochemicals, Power, or Water industries

Nice to have

• Strong proficiency in DCS system engineering, upgrades, modernization, and commissioning
• Hands-on experience with servers, workstations, RAID configurations, and VMware ESXi/Hyper-V
• Expertise in network configurations (switches, routers, firewalls) and Active Directory/domain setup
• Experience designing cybersecurity solutions including system hardening and McAfee ePO
• Competency with industrial protocols such as OPC, Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, and IEC

Education

BE/B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or related engineering domain.
