Accounting Supervisor

About the role

Cummins seeks an Accounting Supervisor in Pune, Maharashtra, India, to implement accounting practices and supervise general accountants. The role involves managing the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with US GAAP. This is an on-site position requiring strong team management and technical accounting skills.

What you’ll do

• Supervises a group of general accountants or accounting clerks in maintaining the general ledger
• Implements accounting policies under direction of the Accounting Manager
• Manages month-end close and financial reporting activities
• Performs General Ledger (GL) and Record-to-Report (R2R) activities
• Reviews account reconciliations and interprets balance sheet and profit and loss statements
• Identifies control weaknesses and communicates to management
• Coaches and mentors accountants and accounting clerks
• Supports internal and external audits by providing required documents and explanations

What you’ll bring

• College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 10+ years of relevant experience with strong team management
• Experience in R2R / General Ledger accounting
• Good understanding of month-end close and reporting
• Knowledge of US GAAP

Nice to have

• Progress toward CPA, CMA, CA, or similar certification preferred
• Experience in audit support is preferred
