Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineering

About the role

Whirlpool Corporation's Software Engineering team in Pune, Maharashtra, India designs and develops moderately complex software for home appliance products and technology platforms. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will partner with the SES Execution team to deliver product leadership through test automation for software development, ensuring verified and validated software across multiple regions. You will perform high-level design, develop software and tools, determine hardware compatibility, and establish architectural guidelines while working with embedded, mobile, and cloud software domains.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop or coordinate development/troubleshooting or debugging of moderately complex software programs for enhancements and new products
• Perform high-level design/modeling to convert stakeholder needs into software solutions
• Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms
• Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design
• Develop architectural guidelines, specifications, and technical standards and communicate to stakeholders
• Partner with the SES Execution team to deliver Product Leadership with test automation for SW development
• Ensure flawless delivery of software which are verified and validated across multiple regions and project execution
• Understand various types of tests such as component level, interface, integration, regression, system level, subsystem level, white box, black box

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
• 2+ years of experience in Embedded / Mobile App / Cloud Software development or testing domain
• Knowledge of Embedded SW development and testing
• Knowledge of Nucleus, WIN, Zephyr OS, RTOS
• Awareness of Industrial Protocols like UART, SPI, I2C, TCP/IP, MQTT
• Basic AWS knowledge including S3, Lambda, EC2, and RDS
• Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting
• Experience with software testing, debugging and project repository tools such as Selenium, Appium, Git, Jenkins, Jira, Rational

Nice to have

• Understanding of IoT architecture and MQTT Protocol
• Experience with SCRUM or Agile development concepts
• Ability to debug complex issues and read/interpret logs
• Understanding of Gen AI concepts and integrating with test frameworks or tooling
• Basic understanding of SW tooling and Test architecture
• Basic understanding of Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Development (CD) principles
• Understanding of building or implementing LLM Agents to automate multi-step software engineering tasks
• Basic understanding of software security vulnerabilities and how they apply to Cloud APIs and Mobile applications
